Youthology Wrinkle Removing Eye Serum

Youthology Research Institute, per their website, is devoted to creating products that reduce the signs of aging. They develop technology that has been specifically designed to provide visible, instant results or quantifiable clinical results.

Youthology 90 Second Wrinkle Removing Eye Serum is a powerful formula that contains Active Rejuvatin™, a clinically optimized skin suspension complex that activates on contact, so that crow’s feet and wrinkles are erased and skin is remarkably smooth and visibly younger in 90 seconds. The effect lasts 8 hours.

Active Rejuvatin seems to be billed as a clinically optimized suspension complex. It is not clear what these terms are intended to indicate, but it seems that Youthology feels they accurately describe this unique ingredient.

Active Rejuvatin is supposedly designed to work like a facelift. The serum fills the wrinkles and lines around the eyes and as the serum dries and the Active Rejuvatin starts to work by shrinking and pulling wrinkles taut and smooth for up to 8 hours. This sounds good, but we are still left wondering exactly what Active Rejuvatin really is.

Currently, the company is offering a special on the eye serum. Normally $79.99, you can purchase it for $39.99 plus $10 shipping and handling. However, there is no listed amount on how much you get. I took a look around - apparently, all the products are on sale. What is even more interesting is that their other products, even if they are heavier or bigger, have a lower shipping and handling charge of $5-6.99. Something smells fishy.

However, I remained resolved to give Youthology Eye Serum a fair and unbiased review. They do have a snazzy website with an impressive MD spokesperson, and a money back guarantee.

Product Claims:

  • Eliminates the appearance of age lines and wrinkles under the eyes and on the cheeks
  • Completely erases the deep creases and line of crows-feet at the corner of the eyes
  • Makes under-eye bags and puffiness vanish
  • Immediate results that last up to 6-8 hours

Cross Examination:

Try as I might, I could not find an ingredient list. ANYWHERE. The only information Youthology offers up on its website is that the eye serum contains the Rejuvatin™, and Echinacea Angustifolia (Coneflower) Extract and Centella Asiatica (Gotu Cola) Extract.

This is the first mistake the company has made. How are consumers supposed to make informed decisions about what they put on their face, if they are not permitted to read the ingredient list? In the age of information, you’d think Youthology would get with the program.

What do we know about Rejuvatin™ other than what the company has chosen to disclose? Nothing. Where are the clinical, published studies that demonstrate its safety and efficacy? Nowhere.

I read many, many online reviews from consumers that express disappointment in this product. One woman said, “It DOES work for about ten minutes and would probably work longer, if you didn't speak, smile, eat or blink... because once you start doing normal things, the stuff starts cracking and leaving the lines deeper and more visible under the eyes.”

Since I could not find an ingredient list, I had to go with personal experience on this one.

I have under eye bags myself, and have used products that are similar to this in the past. In fact, I bought one such eye serum at Wal-Mart and tried it out in the parking lot. The results were amazing: it tightened and shrunk the bags right before my eyes. However, as soon as I smiled, the product cracked and left weird looking white residue under my eye. Not cool.

I went home and researched the mechanism – it is simply something that binds to the skin and as it dries, shrinks and pulls the skin taut. Presto magic – bags and wrinkles gone! However, as soon as the product wears off, or you sweat, or smile, or do any regular “people” type things, the wrinkles and bags return. More concerning, the stretching and pulling the product does on delicate under eye skin can make the problem WORSE.

The Bottom Line:

If you are serious about the health of your skin and long term safety and efficacy of an anti-aging product, then Youthology is not for you. This eye serum is like putting a Band-Aid on a gunshot wound: does nothing to help heal or restore the skin. Do yourself a favor and put cold cucumber slices on your eyes, instead, and purchase a product clinically proven to benefit your skin and reduce wrinkles.
