Revitol Complete Anti-Aging Review

Revitol Complete ImageRevitol Natural Skincare is a company that was founded in 2002. It creates and sells products that treat a wide range of skin conditions, and is a member of the Natural Products Association, which is dedicated to providing safe and effective products that help people supplement their lives. Revitol products appear to be marketed both to men and women. Revitol prides themselves on providing a good value. For the purposes of this review, we will focus on their anti-aging skincare line.

Revitol specializes in combining botanicals with cutting edge natural ingredients to provide the best combination of anti-aging compounds. Their anti-aging system is called the Anti-Aging Solution Kit, and is composed of three products: anti-wrinkle complex, serum, and moisturizing cream.

There are instructions on the website on how to apply the products, but no instructions on how to use the products together. I mean, do you apply the complex or the serum first? The Revitol website is professional and fairly informational. There are full ingredient lists for every product, which I deeply appreciate.

The price for the solution kit depends. If you purchase a one month supply, it is $99.95 plus shipping. If you purchase three months, you get a discount. If you sign up for autoship, which sends product every month, you are billed $79.95/month and shipped a new supply every month. See the Revitol website for more details on pricing.

There is a 90 day money back guarantee, the terms of which I think are a little silly. You can only return Revitol products for a refund (minus a restocking fee) if the product is unopened. How can you try a product without opening it? Being a bit put off by the return policy, I resolved, nevertheless, to give the product a fair and unbiased review.

And I’m glad I did. You'll see what I'm talking about below!!!

Cross Examination:

I felt it best to review these products one at a time, explaining the ingredients as I go. Some of the ingredients are repeated in the list, but I only explained them once.

Revitol Anti-Aging Complex ImageAnti Wrinkle Complex: ingredients are protected in a tube.

Active Ingredients: Coq10, DMAE, Vitamin E, Vitamin A, Dermox SRC, LipoLight OAP, Skin Tightener ST.

Other Ingredients: Purified water, glycerin, Glyceryl Stearate (and) PEG-100 Stearate, Cetyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Carbomer, Lanol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Imidazolidinyl Urea.

Several of these ingredients are well-known. Coq10, otherwise known as ubiquinone or idebenone, is one of the most powerful and universal antioxidants out there. It has been clinically shown to protect cells against oxidative damage and increase the levels of other anti-oxidants, including vitamin C.  DMAE, or deanol, is otherwise known as the “face-lift in a jar.” DMAE is clinically proven to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and prevent sagging. It is an excellent anti-aging ingredient. Vitamins E and A are both excellent anti-oxidants.

Lipolight OAP is the ingredient that instantly reduces the appearance of wrinkles by using tiny light reflecting spheres to “trick” the eye into not seeing the shadows created by wrinkles. This ingredient is designed to hide the wrinkles until the other ingredients start working, but it does nothing to actually reduce wrinkles.

Skin Tightener ST includes undisclosed marine and herbal ingredients that enhance the synthesis of collagen, which firms the skin. It also contains Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide that promotes healthy skin; and Acetyl Hexapeptide-3, which reduces the skin movements that may contribute to wrinkles. I could find no details on actual Skin Tightener ingredients, however, so I’m not entirely sure what's made of.

Dermox SRC, per the website, reduces the appearance of wrinkles and increases collagen synthesis, but I could not find what this ingredient actually was.

Revitol Anti-Aging Serum ImageAnti Wrinkle Serum: ingredients protected in a tube.

Active Ingredient: Argireline

Proprietary Blend: Matrixyl, Hyaluronic Acid, Hydrolyzed Wheat Gluten and Ceratonia siliqua, Macrocystis pyrifera, Edelweis Extract, Skin Tightener ST, Pentacare NA .

Other Ingredients: Purified water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Cyclomethicone and Dimethiconol, Dimethicone Copolyol, Cyclomethicone, Carbomer, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Mica, Lanol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Diazolidinyl Urea, Sodium Chloride, Polysorbate 20, Matracaria Extract.

Argireline is the topical alternative to Botox injections, and works by inhibiting the nerve-muscle connection thereby relaxing the wrinkle. It takes some time to see results. It is a fairly new ingredient, and may prove revolutionary, but long term safety and efficacy studies are lacking.

In the proprietary blend, there are several good ingredients. Matrixyl is a peptide ingredient that is an anti-oxidant and stimulates collagen production, thereby firming the skin. Hyaluronic acid is an excellent moisturizer and skin hydrator.

Macrocystis, or seaweed, improves skin texture and is high in vitamins and minerals (seaweed wrap, anyone?). Edelweiss extract is an anti-oxidant and has been found to have some UV blocking properties. However, any other anti-aging capabilities of these botanicals have not been clinically studied.

There are a couple of short-term skin tighteners: Pentacare NA is a botanical alternative to serum albumen, and is used as a skin tightener. However, it does not fight wrinkles long term, but provides more of a short-term solution. Hydrolyzed Wheat Gluten and Ceratonia siliqua are botanicals that form a film on your face, and then as they evaporate, provide a tightening effect.

Revitol Anti-Aging Moisturizing Cream ImageMoisturizing Cream: comes in a pot, so ingredients not protected from oxidation (only important for squalene)

Active Ingredient: Argireline

Proprietary Blend: Matrixyl, Hyaluronic Acid, Hydrolyzed Wheat Gluten and Ceratonia siliqua, Macrocystis pyrifera, Edelweis Extract, Shea Butter, Squalene, Evening Primrose Oil, Skin Tightener ST, Pentacare NA

Other Ingredients: Purified Water, Glycerin, Dimethicone, Tricaprylin, Isocetyl Behenate, Glyceryl Stearate (and) PEG-100 Stearate, Butylene Glycol, Dexpanthenol, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Triethanolamine, Cetyl Alcohol, Carbomer, Sodium PCA, Cholesterol, Stearic Acid, Matricaria Extract, Methylparaben, Polysorbate 20, Propylparaben, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Tetrasodium EDTA.

The moisturizing cream has many of the same active and proprietary ingredients as the anti wrinkle serum. There is the addition of Shea Butter, which is an excellent moisturizer, and evening primrose oil. Evening primrose oil has been taken orally for almost a century as a treatment for eczema and fatty acid supplementation. There are no studies done on its bioavailability when applied topically, except for one study done on hairless mice. In that study, it did reduce wrinkles on the naked mice, but it was tested in conjunction with vitamin C and E.

The rest of the inactive ingredients are mainly filler: preservatives, emulsifiers, occlusives (silicone, etc.).

The Bottom Line:

To get to the bottom line, I had to take all the anti-aging ingredients you get and compare it to other wrinkle creams in the same price range. Here is the list of ingredients in Revitol worth talking about:

  • DMAE
  • Excellent anti-oxidants (CoQ10, Vitamin A, E, squalene)
  • Argireline
  • Matrixyl
  • Hyaluronic Acid
  • Lipolight (light reflecting spheres)
  • Temporary skin tighteners (Hydrolyzed Wheat Gluten and Ceratonia siliqua, Skin Tightener ST)
  • Shea Butter
  • Botanical extracts (kelp, evening primrose oil, edelweiss extract)

When listed all together, it becomes apparent that for the price, Revitol fairly wallops other anti aging creams in the same price range. Most of the creams in the $80-100 range give you one or two good ingredients combined with filler synthetics or unproven botanical extracts. Revitol, on the other hand, actually delivers a good combination of anti-aging compounds at a seriously competitive price.

I, for one, was impressed.

I do not believe that all three products in the Revitol Solutions Kit are created equal, however: out of the three, I believe the Anti Aging complex is the best. Why? Because it combines the anti-oxidant power of ubiquinone plus peptides and vitamins A and E, and then hits a home-run with DMAE.  Not to mention the Lipolight…the Anti Aging Complex really is a great product for the money (and believe me…I’ve reviewed a lot of products). I would not hesitate to use this product all over my face.

I would use Anti Aging Serum more sparingly. It contains Argireline which is still relatively unproven, and has several skin tighteners, which always slightly wig me out. Personally, I would use the Anti Aging Serum only on trouble spots, like crow’s feet or forehead wrinkles. There is Argireline in the moisturizing cream as well, but the moisturizers (hyaluronic acid and shea butter) are so effective that I would not hesitate to use that.

The only way I would recommend to Revitol to make this product better is to include a stable form of vitamin C to the Anti-Aging Complex, add a sunscreen, and develop a better return policy. Yes, you do get a great product, but if they really want to up their customer service, allow the return of opened containers.

My only other drawback to this product was the fact that you have to buy all three products in the trio. Then I heard about a great deal, and figured you need to hear about it as well.

Through the Revitol website you can purchase two sets of the trio (the three products) and you get a third set for free. This can last for up to six months. After doing all my research, I am convinced there is no other comparable product on the market that you can get a 6 month’s supply for around $200, (you are welcome to look around yourself!) and this is by far the greatest value. In addition, if you don’t like the product, you can get your money back from the unopened containers.
